Heartland Coop - Nebraska City, NE

Project scope

The Story: Defending Essential Grain Storage & Operations

As a critical hub for agriculture and grain storage, Heartland Co-op in Nebraska City faced recurring flood threats that could disrupt operations and cause severe financial losses. When floodwaters surged in June 2024, the facility relied on its AquaFence FloodWall system to prevent damage and keep essential operations running.

Recognizing the risk to multiple locations, Heartland Co-op took proactive measures by installing a robust flood protection system across three separate facilities, ensuring uninterrupted service for the local agricultural community.

The Challenge: Safeguarding Agricultural Facilities from Rising Waters

  • High flood risk threatened grain storage, equipment, and supply chain operations.

  • Three separate facilities required customized flood protection.

  • Reliable barriers were essential to ensure continuity in the face of unpredictable weather.

The Solution: A Tailored Flood Protection System

AquaFence provided a customized barrier system, deploying:

  • 375 linear feet of V1200 (4’) FloodWalls for moderate flood risks.

  • 140 linear feet of V2400 (8’) FloodWalls for high-risk areas needing additional protection.

  • Scalable and flexible deployment, allowing adjustments based on flood conditions.

The Results: Proven Flood Protection in Real-World Conditions

  • Successfully held back floodwaters during the June 2024 event, preventing damage to critical infrastructure.

  • Rapid deployment ensured minimal disruption, keeping the facilities operational.

  • Safeguarded essential agricultural supply chains, protecting stored grain and equipment.

By integrating AquaFence FloodWalls, Heartland Co-op has reinforced its resilience against flooding, securing vital agricultural operations for Nebraska’s farming communities.
