The Story: Safeguarding Essential Grain Storage in Hungary

Located in Adony, Hungary, the largest grain storage facility in Europe plays a pivotal role in the region’s agriculture. This facility is crucial for storing and distributing grain across Europe, and its uninterrupted operation is essential for food security. Given its importance, safeguarding it from potential flood risks became a top priority.

Recognizing the vulnerability of the facility’s egress point to extreme weather, the team at Adony took immediate action. They turned to AquaFence to design a robust flood defense system. AquaFence provided a solution that would divert water away from the facility’s critical access point, ensuring it remained operational and secure during heavy rainfall or flooding events.

The Challenge: Protecting a Vital Grain Storage Facility

The facility needed a flood protection system that could:

  • Protect the egress point from flooding, ensuring no disruption to grain storage and distribution.

  • Effectively divert water from the facility without impacting operations.

  • Provide a cost-effective solution with quick deployment for potential flood events.

The Solution: Tailored Flood Wall System for Water Diversion

AquaFence implemented the perfect flood protection solution for the facility, featuring:

  • 44 linear feet of V1800 (6’) FloodWall, designed to protect the egress point from floodwaters.

  • Water diversion system that ensures the facility remains accessible and operational, even in heavy rainfall or floods.

  • Easy-to-deploy barriers that offer rapid flood response without affecting the facility’s normal operations.

The Results: A Secure Grain Facility with Reliable Flood Protection

Thanks to AquaFence’s solution, the Adony grain storage facility benefits from:

  • Uninterrupted grain storage and distribution during flood events.

  • Reliable protection against extreme weather ensures the facility stays operational.

  • Quick and effective water diversion, keeping the critical egress point accessible and flood-free.

With AquaFence’s flood protection system, the Adony facility continues its vital role in Europe’s agricultural supply chain without the looming threat of flooding disrupting operations.
